The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed wide receiver Brian Robiskie off waivers today, and placed Mike Sims-Walker on IR. Robiskie will provide another target for rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert as Jacksonville looks to jump start their last-ranked passing offense, which is averaging only 124 yards per game.
Robiskie was waived this week by the Cleveland Browns after two-and-a-half disappointing years. He was a second round draft pick in 2009 out of Ohio State, and expectations were high. After 106 yards his rookie season and 301 yards last year, he only had 3 catches for 25 yards so far this season.
Perhaps the change in scenery will help, and the Jags can certainly use help with their passing offense. Given the struggles of Gabbert so far this season, it looks to continue to be a long year in Jacksonville as Gabbert continues to mature and they rely heavily on Maurice Jones Drew and their running game.
Sims-Walker was signed only two weeks ago after being cut by St. Louis and injured his knee in Sunday’s game.
