J.J. Watt Pays Respects

In what has become a reoccurring nightmare, this past Friday Santa Fe High School in Galveston County, Texas added their name to a lengthy list of schools affected by gun violence when eight children and two teachers were tragically gunned down by a fellow student. Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has said he will pay for the funerals of all 10 victims. May we remember those who passed away not as statistics or victims, but as brothers, sisters, cousins, sons, daughters, mothers, and grandmothers. Hopefully Watt’s generosity will help family’s find closure in being able to provide their loved ones a service they truly deserve.

Those forever remembered are:

Ann Perkins (teacher)

Cynthia Tisdale (teacher)

Sabika Sheikh

Angelique Ramirez

Shana Fisher

Kim Vaughn

Chris Stone

Christian “Riley” Garcia

Jared Conard Black

Kyle McLeod

After raising over $37 million for Hurricane Harvey victims late last year, the 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year didn’t hesitate to again step up to help those affected in his community. The great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” J.J. Watt may you continue to shine your light and spread your love, it is evident the world needs more of it.
