As expected, the Giants will turn to rookie Greg Jones at MLB in the wake of Jonathon Goff's ACL tear. Jones impressed in the preseason and wound up as the backup after the final roster cutdown. Don't get carried away with your IDP expectations, though. Jones has enough size to hold up and good instincts for the position. He was a big tackle producer in college and even tallied 16.5 career sacks. The primary question on him heading into the draft was a lack of speed, though. And Jones only defensed 9 total passes (including 2 INTs) in 4 years as a starter at Michigan State. The Giants are likely to limit his responsibilities a bit and figure to remove him in many obvious passing situations. Keep in mind that Goff delivered just 80 tackles (54 solo) as the starter last year despite performing well against the run.
