Good News for Jets Offense

The Jets offense is starting to get some good news lately. At Wednesday’s practice wide recievers Santonio holmes{rib and back} and Jeremy Kerley{hamstring} were back at practice.

Holmes has been out since Aug.4 and Kerley since opening day of camp. This will give quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow some more targets to help the Jets reach the end zone for the first time this preseason. Kerley looked very good at practice and it doesn’t seem the hamstring is an issue.

On Sunday when they take on the Panthers there will be a new Right Tackle in the lineup. Undrafted third year player Austin Howard will replace struggling tackle Wayne Hunter. Hunter has looked shaky at best this preseason and has given up three sacks and not getting any push at all on the defense. Hunter took the news like a true professional and said “I got to get better and I will do whatever I can to help the team”. “I will be the sixth man”. The Jets have hinted they will look to the waiver wire, to adda tackle or even a trade if they see a better solution.

The Quarterback order for Sunday will be Sanchez to play all the first half and maybe some into the third quarter. Tebow will take over after that. Do not expect to see the wildcat formation in this game. The Jets have said they will not show the wildcat in this game. Many sources have commented how well third string Quarterback Greg McElroy has looked. He has shown a strong arm in camp and has really grasped offensive coordinater’s Tony Sparano’s offense. He is a smart quarterback who played at Alabama who has alot of intangibles. He and Sanchez were roomates this Summer at Cortland. It really helped both quarterbacks to study with each other the new offense being installed this year.
