New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley is enjoying the best season of his career, recording 93 total tackles, and is one of the leaders on an intimidating Giants defense that has caught fire in their Super Bowl run. Pro Player Insiders caught up with Boley in Indianapolis while he and the Giants were getting ready for Super Bowl XLVI.
Boley started his playing career with the Atlanta Falcons, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2005. After a few successful seasons with the Falcons, Boley became a free agent and signed a five-year- contract to join the Giants.
Now appearing in his first Super Bowl, Boley is extremely excited for his shot at a world championship, and enjoying the festivities this week leading up to the big game. Boley spoke about why the Giants got so hot late in the season, and how they were able to make their late season push through the playoffs.
“Consistency, that’s been the one thing that has helped us get better over the last month,” Boley said. “We were so inconsistent at times over the past year that we were just hurting ourselves. But we’ve ironed out the small details in our defense.”
The main storyline of Super Bowl XLVI has been the impact this game will have on the legacies of both quarterbacks, which is no surprise. The Giants defensive players haven’t been getting much attention as individuals, and Boley was quick to point out that it’s been a team effort.
“It is what it is,” Boley said. “We got a great defense as a whole, so we kinda spread the love all across the board.”
As for the overall Super Bowl experience, Boley said he’s just trying to enjoy his time in Indianapolis before the game, and soak it all in. With the circus-like atmosphere engulfing the city, Boley knows things will only get crazier as Sunday rolls around.
“Obviously, it’s going to be crazy out here, just try and stay focused and don’t buy in to all the hoopla.”
