This weekend, one of the greatest stages of all time plays host once again – 25 years later. The Field of Dreams farm in Dyersville, Iowa is hosting a reunion for the cast, crew, and friends to celebrate the anniversary of the iconic movie “Field of Dreams” that stared Kevin Costner.
Costner will be joined by one of our favorites Kristy Swanson along with Timothy Busfield, Dwier Brown, Bob Costas, Kim Dejesus, Jeff Dye, Colin Egglesfield, Lloyd Eisler, Brian Frankish, Lawrence Kessnich, Joel Murray, Glendon Rusch, Bret Saberhagen, Reid Simpson, DB Sweeney and Justin Wheelon.
“If you build it, they will come,” and come they have. Since the making of the movie, people from all over the world have pilgrimaged to Iowa to experience the magic that the “Field of Dreams” creates in each one of us.
Kristy was invited by Costner to be part of the event. You might not know she’s a HUGE sports fan (but that’s in our next story). She is excited to share this experience with her husband Lloyd Eisler and their son Magnus.
“It’s Father’s Day weekend which is really great,” said Kristy. To get ready for game day, they were going to watch the movie as a family ahead of time. “My little 7-year-old boy is coming so I’m showing him the movie actually tonight. He’s never seen the film so I want him to understand what he’s going to go see. I think he’s going to love it.”
Costner in talking about this weekend said, “I have come to understand what this movie means to people all over America. Field of Dreams is special to all of us that were lucky enough to be in it. It transcends more than just baseball. It’s about relationships. It’s about fathers and sons and the things that go unsaid for too long.”
The reunion will include a screening of the movie in center field and after Costner will lead in a charity baseball games. “We’re all going to play,” said Kristy. “They asked for our sizes so I guess we’re going be in some sort of uniforms, I’m not really sure what. Kevin Costner has a band [Modern West], so his band is going to play one night too.”
To wrap up the weekend, on Sunday, there is a Father’s Day Brunch.
