Colts Host Annual Father / Son Mini Camp

The Indianapolis Colts, in combination with NFL Play 60, recently finished hosting their annual Father / Son minicamp.

NFL Play 60 is an NFL-sponsored program which has been instrumental in encouraging youth activity in partnership with current NFL stars like Reggie Bush. The Colts annual mini camp has traditionally had great success in the past and has been adapted to include mother/son and mother/daughter family settings as well.  During the event, the kids get the real-life experience of what it means to be a football player on the field, while also getting the opportunity to meet former and current Colt’s players.

Children walk away from the Colt’s event with a better understanding of “Colt’s football,” tips to help improve their game, and a truly unforgettable experience.  Not only do children get the opportunity of a lifetime, the interactive learning and drills also provide an environment that is fun and beneficial to the child’s health as well.

Pro Player Insiders own Michael Johnson sat down in an interview with Indianapolis Colt Jarrell Freeman to discuss some details about the mini camp. When asked about what take he had to offer about being a little kid participating in an event like this, Freeman sung high praises for the fathers present at the camp. “Like these kids, I probably had the greatest father in the world…and for them to be out here doing the events and drills and everything at [this event] is amazing.”

Freeman, who participated in his first camp with his son also noted that “he enjoyed events like this as a child” and that is extremely important to “return the favor as a father.”

For the Colts, the event continues to be another example of the good NFL teams are doing within the community. Although there is a monetary fee associated with the camp, the benefits that an event like this can offer are certainly worth it. The Colts will host a Spring mini camp in 2013 and registration and information about the event can be found on the Indianapolis Colts website.
