The 4-year-old son of Oakland Raiders defensive line coach Terrell Williams has died. According to the team, Tyson Williams became ill earlier this month and died Friday at Oakland Children’s Hospital.
The family says Tyson, who had just recently celebrated his fourth birthday, loved cartoons and was a caring older brother to 8-month-old Tahj.
Coach Dennis Allen says the team was shocked by the news and the organization sends its deepest sympathies to the family.
The team did not provide details of Tyson’s illness but says Williams will have as much time off as he needs to be with his family while other defensive staff share his responsibilities. The Raiders travel to Baltimore to face the Redskins on Sunday.
