Charlotte Motor Speedway Will Be Busy

When you think about Charlotte Motor Speedway, you think of the 1.5-mile superspeedway where the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series race, as well the Legend Cars in the summer and periodically throughout the year.  However, did you realize Charlotte Motor Speedway also owns and has on the same property the zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte?  Well, if you did not realize this, you do now.

During the fall season, these three venues will be busy.  What better way to introduce the events at these venues then with the seventh annual Parade of Power Wednesday, August 5th, which was the kick off of the Fall Season of Speed at Charlotte.

Who were the hosts to lead the charge for the Fall Season of Speed?  It was two rising stars in racing, brothers Austin and Ty Dillon, who both race for Richard Childress Racing.   Vehicles which totaled more than 30,000 horsepower came down Bruton  Smith Boulevard and were led by Austin, who was in is NASCAR Sprint Cup Series No. 3 Dow Great Stuff Chevrolet.  How did Austin get the crowd excited?  Well, he did a huge burnout amid the cheers from the crowd of fans in attendance.Photo Courtesy @CLTMotorSpdwy

56 event days and nights at Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte make up the Fall Season of Speed.  Being these events take place under the front office of the Charlotte Motor Speedway staff, we know the events are top notch, without question.  But the main event all fans wait for takes place on the night of October 10th, as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be in action under the lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Bank of America 500.  This race is the fourth race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase to the Championship, is the only night race in the Chase to the Championship and is the first race in the Chase to the Championship that will be televised on NBC (the first three races in the Chase to the Championship are on NBCSN).

In addition to this race being a key race in the Chase, Charlotte Motor Speedway is a special place for Austin.

“Competing here is special to us. I like the track because you can really move around and find speed.  You see guys move up to the top lane all the way to the bottom.  Every lap, it’s kind of changing.  That’s what makes it interesting.  It has some character in (turns) three and four and (turns) one and two are just fast.”
