Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald signed a new contract this weekend making him the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Fitzgerald signed an 8-year, $120 million contract, and the average salary of $15 million per year trails only Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and Philip Rivers.
The new contract positions Fitzgerald, who turns 28 at the end of the month, to potentially remain a Cardinal for life.
The contract also sets a new standard for non-quarterback pay, which will likely get a lot of attention from other top players who are looking to renegotiation current deals, including Chris Johnson and DeSean Jackson.
We’re pretty sure that Fitzgerald won’t be getting any notes of congratulations from the Titans or Eagles front offices any time soon.
