Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune called the $3.25 million the Bears paid S Brandon Meriweather "the only indicator you need to know he will be in the starting lineup sooner rather than later." That 1-year deal made Meriweather the team's highest paid safety. He's listed as the backup to 2nd-year FS Major Wright, but Biggs suggests that's only temporary while Meriweather gets familiar with the scheme. Meriweather was a 1st-round pick of the Patriots back in 2007 but didn't make this year's final roster. He has been an inconsistent fantasy contributor because of inconsistent playing time. As a full-time starter, though, he'd carry big upside. Meriweather grabbed 12 INTs over his final 3 seasons in New England and broke up 24 other passes.
