Last week it was reported that the Bills had added quarterback Kevin Kolb and the signing finally became official yesterday. Kolb was recently released by the Arizona Cardinals after 2 seasons in which Kolb saw limited success and playing time due to injuries.
Kolb sees Buffalo as a brand new opportunity to show what he is capable of and is excited about joining his new team, “The organization, I have always heard good things about them. When you get here it is 10-fold what they tell you. Everybody is very personable and helpful as far as myself and my family.”
Kolb also feels a third time will be a charm and his experience here will be different than his previous ones in the NFL saying, “I want to put together a solid career here. I don’t want to put together two years. I want to put together a Super Bowl contender every single year for a long time. I’m not looking to get out of this league any time soon.”
Kolb makes the third quarterback on the roster, which includes veteran Tavaris Jackson and youngster Aaron Corp. It has also been speculated the Bills plan to draft a quarterback so Kolb will have some competition for the starting spot but that is something he is used to and ready for. Kolb says, “I am ready for it. I am excited about it. I want to be on the field and be the starter. I am sure Tarvaris (Jackson) does too, and Aaron (Corp) and whoever else they want to bring in. So we will go out there, help each other out where we can, but make sure that, this is a big chance for me and that is why I came here. I am excited about getting out there and doing some special things.”
The addition of Kolb definitely gives the Bills more flexibility with the draft coming up, and most think the signing is an indication that Buffalo won’t use a first rounder on QB. Either way, it seems like Kolb will be fighting for that starting job.
