Aqib Talib Says Hip Injury Was False

Former Patriots CB Aqib Talib reports his injury to his hip was a falsely accusation; in fact he had stated that his hip hasn’t bothered him since he was in Tampa Bay. “That was in Tampa, that was the right side,” Talib said Wednesday, per ESPN Boston. “I haven’t had a hip problem since Tampa. The Patriots have their way of reporting stuff, but I haven’t had a hip problem since Tampa. The injury I had was actually a quad injury, it was reported as a hip injury, but that’s how they do things.” Aqib-Talib

Last season Talib was injured on a “bang bang” play with former Patriots WR Wes Welker; “It was a knee-to-knee, it was like [Welker] kneed me right on the side of my knee. It immediately swelled up and I couldn’t put pressure on it, so it was just like a deep bone bruise at just the wrong spot,” Talib said. “That’s just football, we run that play 1,000 times. It just so happened on that play we went the same way. He braced himself. I was looking at the quarterback so I didn’t get a chance to brace myself. It’s football.”

“At 28, I still feel good, I still can do standing backflips and stuff like that, so I feel like I’m in pretty good shape,” Talib said. “The injury in the AFC championship, it was just a deep bone bruise. It just swelled up a lot, but no damage, really. It was just a real deep bruise. I just had to do the ice and get my motion back and things like that. It’s perfectly fine now. I’ve been back working out and it’s perfectly fine.”

With moving forward from the Patriots organization to the Denver Broncos Talib needs to stay healthy. He had signed a $57 million dollar contract for 6 years with $26 million guaranteed. Denver had given Talib this type of contract, because when he is healthy he is very dangerous with impacting the game. When Talib was asked how he felt playing for the Broncos, this is how he responded.

“Peyton is a great quarterback. “I had the opportunity to be on the other side of it a couple times last year, and the opportunity to play with him and that offense and defense, coach [John] Fox, it was a surprise to me. “It was definitely a surprise, but I’m just excited. I can’t wait to get to work.”
