In Monday’s night performance, Josh Freeman looked out of sync and hardly could dial an accurate pass to any of his receivers; against the New York Giants, Freeman became the second quarterback in history to throw 50 passes for 0 touchdowns and have under 200 yards. He had 16 attempts in which they were over thrown; this has not happened since 2006.
Coach Leslie Frazier said Freeman will start Sunday night at home against the Green Bay Packers, making him the third Vikings quarterback to start at least two games this season.Frazier said Freeman’s issues had more to do with mechanics than preparation, pointing to a number of throws where the quarterback didn’t square his shoulders. In Frazier’s eyes, those mistakes are easy to fix.”The ball kind of sailed on him a few different times, but I don’t think it was a lack of preparation,” Frazier said.Frazier said he was not obligated by the front office or the team’s ownership to start Freeman but did not commit to the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter for the rest of the season.”I don’t know if I’ve thought that far ahead,” he said.
After his disappointing performance, Freeman talked about getting better. “It’s frustrating,” Freeman said. “It’s disappointing. But at the same time I see areas that are manageable in terms of us definitely getting better. We’re going to develop that chemistry. A lot of these plays that are just a hair off, they’ll start hitting for us.”
