The New England Patriots announced that they have signed veteran CB Darrelle Revis. Terms of the contract were not announced.
Revis, 28, is a veteran of seven NFL seasons with the New York Jets (2007-12) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2013). He was released by Tampa Bay on March 12, 2014. The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder originally entered the NFL as a first round pick (14th overall) of the Jets in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Pittsburgh. He was traded by the Jets to the Buccaneers on April 21, 2013.
During his seven NFL seasons, Revis has played and started in 95 regular-season games and has registered 344 total tackles, 21 interceptions with three returned for touchdowns, five forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. He has also played in and started in six postseason games, tallying 23 total tackles and two interceptions.
He has been selected to five Pro Bowl (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013), earned three first-team All Pro honors (2009, 2010 and 2011) and was named AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 after finishing the year with 72 total tackles and six interceptions.
Last season, he started all 16 games for Tampa Bay and finished the year with 50 total tackles, one sack, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
