Michael Vick will Likely Start Against Giants

Michael Vick will likely start against the New York Giants Sunday even if his injury is not 100% healed. He has been nursing a hamstring injury that has kept him out the game for two weeks. Vick had took the first team’s snap on Tuesday despite the sore hamstring. Coach Chip Kelly has been fully aware about the hits that Vick takes and his toughness.

“I think he’s done a better job from a decision making standpoint from that,” Kelly said. “I don’t think Mike’s taken a lot of really big hits. That’s why I think for Mike it’s frustrating.  He runs out of bounds and does what he’s supposed to do and hurts his hamstring. Where, I know probably in the back of his mind he was like, ‘If I just ran that guy over, I wouldn’t have hurt my hamstring.’ But I don’t think he’s taken the hits, and he’s really been conscious of that of trying to get down, trying to get out of bounds and do things the right way. That’s why I think this is frustrating for him. “But in terms of Mike’s toughness, I think it’s a quality in all quarterbacks that I think is very underrated.”

The Giants are preparing for Vick as if he were starting against them; “You worked all week to prepare for Vick and you get that changeup and it kind of throws you for a loop for a while,” Tuck said of the change to Foles. “And we just didn’t do a good job of adjusting to what obstacles Foles presented. Obviously we expect Vick to be the starting quarterback. I think he announced that earlier this week. And for us, man, we’ve just got to go out there and do whatever the game plan is and make sure we execute it. This offense is the type of offense that has the big plays when the defense isn’t on the same page.”

This is a division game and Chip Kelly is looking for the best quarterback that will give them a greater chance of winning.
