Mark Sanchez Hopes to Laugh about Thanksgiving Fumble in the Future

There’s nothing funny about running into one of your offensive lineman – fumbling the ball – and getting it returned for six points.

That’s exactly what happened when Mark Sanchez ran into Brandon Moore and put the ball on the turf during Thanksgiving Day’s game against the New England Patriots. Sanchez is fully aware of all the “butt fumble” jokes, but says hopefully, he’ll be able chuckle about it in the future, NBC reports.

“Hopefully we’ll laugh about it later,” Sanchez said on Wednesday, in his first public comments since his team’s debacle against the Patriots.

It’s going to take a while before Sanchez can erase the fumble from his memory.

“It’s embarrassing because that’s one you [messed] up the play and I’m trying to do the right thing,” Sanchez said. “It’s not like I’m trying to force something and I start to slide and I slide right in the worst spot I possibly could, right into Brandon Moore.”

Sanchez came away from the play unscathed, but couldn’t believe his eyes.

“No, I wasn’t hurt. I guess more stunned than anything. Just like a car accident I was like, ‘Woah, what just happened?’ Then the ball was gone it was weird,” Sanchez said.
