Jonathan Martin Meets With NFL Investigator

Miami Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin met with the NFL’s lead investigator, Ted Wells, in New York City on Friday.  Wells was appointed by the league to review the alleged bullying and harassment that took place in the Miami Dolphins workplace.

Fellow teammate, Richie Incognito, has been at the center of the controversy.  He was suspended by the Dolphins following the release of certain texts and voicemails Incognito left for Martin that contained racist language.  Incognito on Thursday filed a grievance against the team asking for the matter to be reviewed on an expedited basis.  He contends that his behavior was not harassing or threatening to Martin in anyway.

Martin briefly addressed reporters outside Wells’ office saying, “I do not intend this discuss this matter publicly. This is the right way to handle the situation.”  He added that he looks forward to meeting with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and other members of the team at the appropriate time.

Ross’ meeting with Martin was originally scheduled for this week, but at the NFL’s request, it was postponed until after Martin’s meeting with Wells.

The majority of the Miami players  have been outspoken in their support of Incognito and do not view him as a racist.

Coach Joe Philbin said on Friday, “I believe in the guys we have in the locker room,” he said. “I believed in them before this all took place, before all this scrutiny came upon us. And I believe in them today.”
