Jaguars Sign First-Round Draft Pick Justin Blackmon

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed 2012 first-round draft pick Justin Blackmon to a contract, the club announced this morning.  Blackmon was the fifth overall pick in the draft and the first of four wide receivers selected in the first round.

The Jaguars moved up in the draft and made Blackmon the third-highest selection in franchise history.  He was only the fourth wide receiver taken in the first round in franchise history and the 21st overall.

Blackmon was a two-time All-America selection at Oklahoma State and a two-time winner of the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver.  He ranked second in school history with 253 receptions for 3,564 yards and 40 touchdowns in three seasons.  He set a school record with 19 career 100-yard receiving games including a school single-season record with 14 straight games with 100-plus receiving yards and a touchdown.

In 2011 Blackmon finished with a school-record 122 receptions for 1,522 yards and 18 touchdowns. He registered seven 100-yard receiving games and reached 95 yards in two other games.  In his final six collegiate games, he had 61 receptions for 860 yards and 10 touchdowns.

A native of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Blackmon attended Plainview High School where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball.  He was a consensus all-state selection as a senior after making 61 receptions for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns.
