The Buffalo Bills and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick have agreed on a multi-year contract extension. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the extension will be signed to day and is worth $59M over 6 years. The contract is reported to have $24 million guaranteed and $33 million in the first three years.
Fitzpatrick had a breakout year last year, passing for 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns. This year, he has led the Bills to a 4-2 record this year, including huge come-from-behind victories over the Raiders and division-rival New England Patriots. In six games so far this year, he has thrown for 1477 yards and 12 touchdowns, with only 6 INTs and 6 sacks. He has the 8th highest passer rating in the league right now, and he is the only one of the top 10 with less than 11 sacks surrendered.
Fitzpatrick has performed well for the Bills, and has brought together this young, talented offense to position the Bills to make a playoff run after being absent for most of the last decade. The extension is well deserved – congratulations to Fitzpatrick, and good job to the Bills for doing the right thing by an emerging star.
