David Garrard will have knee surgery

Dolphins QB David Garrard is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery.  It's unclear when he was injured or how long he'll be sidelined.  ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that some Dolphins players didn't even know about the injury.  It's a tough break for Garrard, who was looking like the favorite to open the season as Miami's starter.  At 34 years old, he may struggle coming back from this surgery.  The Dolphins' QB battle is wide open once again.  Matt Moore might be the favorite to start Week 1, but we wouldn't count 1st-round rookie Ryan Tannehill out either.  He's been impressive in camp so far.  This remains a situation to avoid in redraft leagues though.

Update: The surgery is being called a "minor clean-up."  Garrard is expected to be sidelined 2-4 weeks.  The longer end of that spectrum would put him back a few days before the season-opener.
