The Chargers announced that WR Danario Alexander is out for the season after tearing his right ACL in practice today. It’s awful news for San Diego, which was counting on Alexander to be its #1 WR this year. Alexander’s right knee was supposed to be his healthy one too. He’s undergone 5 surgeries on his left knee since his sophomore year in college. The 24-year-old was a major surprise last season, finishing with 37 grabs for 658 yards and 7 TDs over just 10 games. With DanAx down, the team will need WRs Vincent Brown, Eddie Royal, Malcom Floyd and Keenan Allen to step up. If Brown can stay healthy, he could now find a clearer path to the team target lead. Overall, the suspect Chargers offense could be poised to struggle again in 2013.
