Carolina Panthers Host Annual Toys for Tots Drive

The Carolina Panthers are set to host their annual holiday toy drive to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. The Panthers will host the Atlanta Falcons at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, December 9th, with the option for fans to participate in the event by bringing a new, unwrapped toy with them to the game.

In 2011, Carolina Panthers fans donated more than 20,000 toys and over $11,000 to the local Toys for Tots Foundation, and Riley Fields, the Carolina Panthers director of community relations, said they hope to build on last year’s success.

“Last season, Carolina Panthers fans generated the largest Toy for Tots Drive in the NFL, which provided the Marine Corps Reserves with unprecedented resources to serve children across the region,” said Fields. “This holiday season will again be challenging for many families in the Carolinas, so this is a great opportunity for Panthers fans to again bring holiday joy to children in our community.”

The Toys for Tots Foundation has delivered a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy during the holiday season for 65 years. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

“We are thankful to the owners, players and fans of the Carolina Panthers for their support of Toys for Tots,” said Lt. General Pete Osman, USMC (Ret), president and chief executive officer of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “The efforts of Panthers fans will enable Toys for Tots to fulfill the Christmas holiday dreams of less fortunate children throughout North and South Carolina.”
