According to a report by The Cleveland Plain Dealer, new Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has already decided to fire Head Coach Pat Shurmar and General Manager Tom Heckert after Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When Haslam became the new owner he said in November that he would make a decision on both their fates quickly at the end of the regular season. Haslam hired Joe Banner to be the team’s new CEO, will now focus his efforts on finding a new General Manager and Head Coach to turn the fortunes of the franchise around.
The Browns have only made the playoffs once since returning to the league in 1999. There lone playoff appearance was in 2002, when the Browns blew a 17-point lead to the Steelers at Heinz Field to lose 33-36.
Banner has stated the organizations need for stability and once the changes are made the plan is to keep everyone in place for the long term.
Of course, that’s every team’s plan.
