The Washington Redskins kicked off Saturday’s NFL preseason action with a 30-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The Redskins moved to 3-0 during the preseason as they handed the Bills their first loss.
The injury bug continued to bite this preseason for the Buffalo Bills, who already lost quarterback E.J. Manuel for the rest of the preseason last week. This week backup quarterback Kevin Kolb left the game with concussion like symptoms. In possibly the scariest moment for the Bills, running back C.J. Spiller grabbed his right knee after a touchdown run. Fortunately he left the field under his own power and is reportedly okay.
Rex Grossman was the starting quarterback today for the Redskins. He finished the game 11 of 21 for 171 yards and a touchdown. Robert Griffin III (knee) and backup quarterback Kirk Cousins (foot) did not play in today’s matchup. Griffin III is still progressing in hopes of starting week one against Philadelphia. Redskins running back Roy Helu led the team in rushing for the day with 70 yards on 13 carries.
Washington has a quick turnaround this week when they play Thursday at Tampa Bay. The Buffalo Bills will travel home to play Detroit on Thursday.
