Back in August, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie said an 8-8 finish is an unacceptable end to a season, and if the team does not improve in 2012, then major changes will be made.
Well, here we are – the Eagles are 3-8 and even if they were able run the table they’ll still finish at a mediocre 8-8. Now the only question to ask is: Has Jeffrey Lurie seen enough to end Andy Reid’s 14-year run as the Eagles head coach?
“We haven’t talked about that,” Reid said in his postgame press conference. “He’s been supportive. Obviously, he’s as competitive as anybody. He wants to win games. That’s why he’s in this business. But we really haven’t gone there.”
According to CSN Philadelphia, Reid insisted that Lurie’s preseason remarks won’t deter him from trying to coach the Eagles to another win, which might never come.
The Eagles have lost seven straight games after starting the season 3-1, and as crazy as this may sound — the Philadelphia Phillies have won a game more recently than the Eagles.
“We’re going to keep battling,” Reid said. “I have to do a better job with that obviously by how we played here. I’m not worried about all of the other things.”
The Eagles try to get back on track against the division rival Cowboys Sunday night.
