Ravens Select Jimmy Smith With 27th Pick

After failing to make the 26th overall pick before their 10-minute time limit expired, the Baltimore Ravens slid back one spot but still made off with the guy they wanted — Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith.

Analysis: Smith was a top-10 talent but slid due to character concerns over some drug issues in his past. At 6-foot-2, he’s the rare corner who can match up, size-wise, with the top receivers in the league. The only question with Smith as a top cover corner is his off-the-field behavior, and in Baltimore he’ll be surrounded by good-influence veterans who are likely going to be able to help him take the game seriously.
