Defensive-minded Jets coach Rex Ryan selected Temple defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson with the 30th pick in the NFL draft.
Analysis: The Jets’ defensive line is aging, Wilkerson has the skills and athleticism to impact their depth at the 3-4 DE positions. He has pass-rushing ability, which helps an area in which the Jets have struggled since Ryan got there, and can play on the interior of the D-line if they need him there. All-around strong pick by the Jets this late.
