Seattle, WA- The Seahawks are well versed with finding different receivers that will step up during training camp, as well as preseason. David Moore has emerged as a good receiver to look out for in day 2 of training camp. Last season, he was on the practice squad and this year he is competing for a job as a primarily wide receiver. He has good feet with getting in and out of routes quickly, can catch the ball, and is very fast.

Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll had some encouraging words to say about Moore’s productivity during a press conference. “He’s a real natural athlete. Real, natural ballplayer. He got good instincts and feel, and he’s really strong—weighs 215 pounds or something like that. You don’t think he’s as big as he is. He came from a really small school and had a background not quite like the kind of stuff we play now, and so he’s got a lot of growth and a lot of potentials to grow into our stuff. He’s got enough ability that we’re looking for ways to get him the football, so if you noticed today, it was a good example of that and we try to show what he can do so that we can make that evaluation. I don’t feel like we got that done totally last year. It just couldn’t come along fast enough but now, he’s ready and it was a very exciting day for him out there today.”
Outside of Doug Baldwin, Brandon Marshall, and Tyler Lockett, someone else has to step up and be the inside presence that they need to get this organization back into the postseason, Moore is talented, but he is has a lot of hurdles to jump over before he can be the third option for the team. He has a lot of work to do with his blocking. At times he does not square up with the defender or goes too low, which puts the defender in a good position to cause disruption for Russell Wilson. If he can improve those miscues, he will have a spot as a first or backup role as a receiver.
