There’s No ‘I” in Team for Bills’ Dominique Ellis

Dominique Ellis Buffalo BillsAt rookie mini camp Buffalo Bills DB Dominique Ellis is an example of teamwork, taking time to help rookie draft picks Jonathan Meeks and Duke Williams follow the new plays and line up in the proper position. Ellis also had an incredible interception the first day of camp where he jumped high and caught E.J. Manuel’s pass at its highest point.

“I am not your average rookie,” said Ellis. “I was in the league last year and can help the guys with some of the calls and they all did a great job. But having a little heads up I was able to help more.”

Last year the Kansas City Chiefs brought Ellis in as an undrafted free agent but he was cut before the season started. In January the Bills added him to their roster. Ellis, a potential game changer, was a two-time All-MEAC selection at South Carolina State where he made 65 tackles and three interceptions in 2011.

He was known as a leader at South Carolina and that was easy to see at mini camp where the rookies were getting their first taste of what it’s like in the NFL. “Guys are just young and they have a perception of the NFL,” says Ellis “until they get here and it humbles them in a good way and allows guys to work better and work harder and come together.”

For his part Ellis is trying to learn all he can from camp to build on for the season, “I am just like the young guys and trying to get better so I can help the team.”

Football is his focus and he, along with the other guys, “have dedicated ourselves to change things. Off the field we all get together on our own and try to make ourselves better.”

A few fun facts about Ellis:

Must Have Swag Item: Jeans (favorite brand Ring of Fire)

Workout Tune:  Headstrong a rock song by Trapt

Culinary Delight: Any type of seafood

Dominique have played football since age 4 every season. I think after 18 years his intelligence on football is more advance than people know. He has character, people skills and a conscience. His family believe in him.
