Wild Card Weekend? I am Bringing the Grub!

Well its wild card weekend, the beginning of the end of the 2012 NFL season, but more importantly its wild card weekend! Now I know, it’s after the holidays so the last thing you want to do is cook food. If your family is anything like my family we just got the kitchen cleaned up!

Then again it’s wild card weekend! Let’s call up the boys, have them bring the whole family because I have a crowd please-er that can be done so quick and easy that’s sure to make even a 8-8 Steeler fan like me happy.

Well, even this great football food idea might not be enough to make a Raider or Browns fans happy, so let’s not invite them…

To start off you have to ask yourself a couple of questions.

  1.  Do you have an oven? (or any old place to make a fire would work as well)
  2.  Do you like good food and making your friends say “Dude you didn’t really make this…”
  3.  Do you have 10 minutes you can spend to prep,(depending on skill level of course but if the prep takes you more than 10 minutes on this dish then just order pizza because cooking just is not your thing).

If you answered yes then let’s make awesomeness!

Here is what you need:

Yield: 4 drums (if you need more, just use some math to figure it out)

1 pack of chicken drumsticks normally 4 per pack

3 garlic cloves minced

10 or so sage leaves gently sliced

1 lime zested and zest copped

salt

pepper

3 tbls olive oil

Tools

Oven set to 400 degrees

1 large oven safe baking pan

some foil (to cover the pan)

large mixing bowl

towel

water

soap

food thermometer

*Remember you can always watch me make this dish using the video on this page. *

I can sit right on your counter and cook with you.

Well that might be creepy… Lets just make some food

  1. WASH YOUR HANDS!!! Your making food for people you love so do it cleanly don’t be a dirt bag
  2. Toss all ingredients into a large bowl and mix, be sure to coat everything nicely and season with salt and pepper
  3. Add a touch of oil or cooking spray to the pan to help the legs not stick and transfer the chicken into the pan
  4. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 20-30 min at 400 degrees keep an eye on it everyone’s oven is different so just bring the chicken up to 165 degrees that’s when it is done.
  5. Plate it up and serve with a little honey mustard or hot sauce if you like.

Now that’s not hard is it?

This is a quick and easy way to cook some serious wild card weekend grub that will keep even the pickiest football fanatics happy even if your team is out!

Talk to you next week.
