Cowboys Have a Knack for Defeating the Undefeated

When the 3-4 Dallas Cowboys go into Atlanta to face the undefeated 7-0 Falcons, they will have history on their side.

According to Todd Archer of ESPNdallas.com, the Cowboys have won their last three games against teams that were at least 7-0 at the time.

The current Cowboys were recently involved in two of those upsets. The first was a 21-14 victory over the 9-0 Indianapolis Colts at Texas Stadium in 2006 and a Saturday night 24-17 shocker against the 13-0 New Orleans Saints in the Louisiana Superdome 2009.

The other was a 24-21 upset victory in Washington over the 11-0 Washington Redskins in 1991.

With the Cowboys history for knocking off the undefeated and coming off a heartbreaker of a loss to the Giants, the Falcons should be more worried as the longer an undefeated streak goes, the more ripe they become to suffer their first loss of the season.

If the Falcons do suffer their first loss of the season to the Cowboys they can ponder over this interesting stat, the three previous teams the Cowboys handed their first loss to all went on to win the Super Bowl that year.
