The carnage following the Indianapolis Colts 2-14 season continues, as the Colts fired head coach Jim Caldwell today. The firing comes within a week of the Colts hiring Ryan Grigson as the new general manager to replace the Polian team who built the Colts Super Bowl teams (winning in the 2006 season, and losing the Super Bowl after the 2009 season). The management team also also built a team that appeared to be completely dependent upon the skills of a single player.
The 2010 Indianapolis Colts were 10-6, and when Peyton Manning had two offseason neck surgeries and missed the entire 2011 season, the Colts dropped to 2-14, bad enough to earn them the top pick in the draft.
Now, with a new general manager and a new coach on the way, the future of Peyton Manning in Indianapolis is even more uncertain. The Colts coaching search will be interesting to watch, and may give a few clues as to the future of Manning and presumptive number one draft pick Andrew Luck.
