Cowboys’ Tyron Smith Happy to Support Miles Austin’s Foundation

Tyron Smith was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round, ninth overall in the 2011 NFL draft. The highly touted offensive tackle played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season starting at right tackle, before a switch to left tackle to begin the 2012 season.

“It’s been a good experience. With the help of my teammates, everybody has working together, it’s been a great experience so far and I am looking forward to the future seasons,” Smith told Jared Ginsberg of Class Act Sports while at teammate Miles Austin’s second annual golf outing to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Garfield, NJ.

The outing occurred in late June, about one month before NFL training camp is set to start. Smith may only be entering h is second year, but he knows all about Austin and how he leads by example both on and off the field.

“Real good guy overall and he means well. It’s good to support a teammate and it’s a good time to have fun and give back,” he said.

As good as Smith is on the football field, he admitted he’s never played golf before.

“I am new to the golf game and basically just learning how to play,” he told Class Act Sports.
