In the latest chapter of the NFL’s favorite sibling rivalry, Eli Manning is going to be following big brother Peyton in one more arena – he will be hosting Saturday Night Live on May 5. Peyton hosted the show back in 2007, after his victory in Super Bowl XLI.
Peyton has set the mark in many statistical categories and left some pretty big shoes for Eli to fill. Peyton’s personality and relaxed sense of humor made him an endorsement champion and legitimate TV star on top of his on field accomplishments. His United Way ad spoof from the 2007 SNL show is one of the all time great SNL commercials, in which, during his volunteer work with kids, he runs the gamut from yelling at kids about their effort, nailing them with passes when they aren’t looking, and helping one child get a Peyton Manning prison tattoo (“It’s gonna be there forever”).

Peyton has passed for over 54,000 yards and 399 TDs, both second all time to Brett Favre and Dan Marino. Peyton also has 11 Pro Bowl appearances and 4 NFL MVP awards. Younger brother Eli has passed for over 27,000 yards and 185 TDs, with 2 Pro Bowl appearances, but he is six years younger than Peyton.
The two also share a remarkable level of durability. Before Peyton’s injure cost him last season, he had started 208 consecutive games, the second longest streak all time Brett Favre’s 297. The longest active streak belongs to Eli, who has started 119 games in a row, which is the third longest streak ever by a quarterback, behind Favre and his big brother.
Of course, Eli does have the advantage in one important category – he has two Super Bowl victories under his belt to one for Peyton.
