Manning Relies on His Family For Support

When discussing the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Eli Manning was usually on the outside looking in.  After throwing for 4933 yards and 29 touchdowns and leading the Giants to their second Super Bowl appearance in four years, Manning can no longer be ignored.

Aside from his first Super Bowl win against the Patriots four years ago, Manning was often criticized for his inability to come through in the clutch; however, during the 2011 season, all he did was win when the team needed him the most. Pro Player Insiders caught up with Eli in Indianapolis as he prepares for Super Bowl XLVI.

What finally helped him get over the hump?  It all starts with family. “Sometimes I’ll see my parents after tough games and you know they’ll always love you no matter what your performance is like or if you win or lose, they’ll give you a hug and hopefully a home cooked meal. My family’s been great in supporting me by helping take care of other family members in town and they have all been just supportive of me and the Giants.”

Moreover, with Peyton Manning in his corner, rest assured Eli is getting invaluable knowledge on how to attack Peyton’s conference rival.  Defeating the well-coached Patriots will be difficult, but nonetheless, trying to defeat them in the Super Bowl is a great problem to have. “I’m just trying to enjoy everything and I know this is a great opportunity. I understand that this is a great day and a great situation to be in.“

Much has been made about “The Rematch.” However, for Eli, the scope of it ends at being in the moment. “I just wanted to be here. It didn’t matter who the opponent was, all you think about is just getting to the Super Bowl and win a championship. I’m happy just to be here and looking forward to playing a great team.”
