Delone Carter benched after fumble

Colts RB Delone Carter lost a fumble on his 2nd carry of Sunday's game against the Falcons -- his 2nd in the past 3 games.  His next touch didn't come until late in the 3rd quarter.  HC Jim Caldwell confirmed afterwards that Carter was benched for ball-security issues.  "It's important," Caldwell said. "You've got to learn it sometime. I think he will."  Carter finished the day with just 4 carries for 8 yards.  Donald Brown stepped in as Indy's lead back and compiled 70 yards on 16 totes.  The Colts backfield is a mess right now, and there's not much production to go around anyways.  We'd expect RB Joseph Addai to move back into the starting lineup if he ever gets over that bum hamstring.  Until then, avoid this situation.
