NFL Preseason Week 3: Arizona Cardinals Edition

The Arizona Cardinals put on football clinic Sunday night versus the Dallas Cowboys, defeating them 27-3. With an outstanding 8 forced turnovers, it seemed as if the Cardinals had an answer for everything the Dallas Cowboys offense was throwing at them. Although, the Cowboys offense was missing two key starters in Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot, the Cardinals still took care of business in a beat down type of fashion. In reality, the Cardinals offense didn’t give as much as I would have liked, rather it was the Cardinals suffocating defense that laid the Cowboys to rest.

The one thing that stood out – and was quite unexpected – in my opinion, was the emergence of Cardinals Rookie Running Back Chase Edmonds who had 55 yards on 11 carries averaging 5 yards a carry. The Rookie standout from Fordham University continues to raise eyebrows with his violent Running technique. Regarding Edmonds I feel like he comes off as a grinder in terms of work ethic or a player that will do the dirty work, that can come in handy when the regular season gets rolling.

Defensively, take everything that happened with a grain of salt. Remember the Cowboys were missing their two biggest offensive threats in Quarterback Dak Prescott and Running Back Ezekiel Elliot. However, that narrative can go both ways. For example, how would we feel if the Cardinal defense struggled against an offense that was missing two key starters? Like most fans I was very impressed by the Cardinal pass rush that is still without outside linebacker Markus Golden. The Cardinal Defense looks sharp and ready for the Regular Season.

The Cardinals will simply not dress many players in this week’s Thursday night showdown versus the Denver Broncos in a meaningless week 4 preseason game. Fair warning, whether the Cardinals blow out the Denver Broncos or get simply demolished, don’t think anything of it. A lot of players in this particular game won’t be on the active 53-man roster come the start of the Regular Season.
