Seahawks welcomes Matt Tobin

Seattle, WA- In a whirlwind of surprises, Matt Tobin was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Seattle Seahawks Monday night. Tobin was unaware of the trade until last night and had to catch a flight to Seattle on Tuesday. “It’s the business. I didn’t have a clue it was coming. Yesterday I just got finished practicing against the Dolphins (the Eagles are holding joint practices with Miami this week). Now I’m finishing practice here. Just excited to get out here and compete and have fun.”

Tobin is preparing to fight for a position at left tackle. If he does well and the Seahawks decides he is a right fit for the organization, he will take on the role that George Fant was going to take before he was injured. When asked if he will play on Friday against the Chiefs he had this to say. “They just told me to come and compete and help the team any way I can,” he said. “We really haven’t had a discussion about that (his position) much.  I really got done with physicals and ran onto the field to do the warmup, so I was out there learning and growing.”

The Seahawks are challenging Tobin to be ready when his number gets called on Friday. Tobin explained that he is very excited to go out there and compete and will do his best to learn the plays in a short time span.
