A solid turn out for the first day of Buffalo Bills voluntary off-season strength and conditioning. Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor was at One Bills Place along with star lineman Eric Wood, Richie Incognito and Cordy Glenn. On the defense Aaron Williams, Stephon Gilmore and Marcell Dareus were among the participants.
Newly signed restricted free agent DT Corbin Bryant who signed his tender offer was also at the workout. Bryant has spent the past three seasons with the Bills, making his greatest impact in 2015 as he played in all 16 games, starting 10, and racking up 45 tackles (24 solo), six quarterback hits, two tackles for loss and one pass defensed. Bryant originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Pittsburgh in 2011. The 6-4, 300-pound Northwestern product spent portions of the 2011 and 2012 seasons on the Steelers’ Practice Squad and 53-man roster.
Absent players included standout running back LeSean McCoy, wide receiver Sammy Watkins and offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson. Also absent was special teams ace Marcus Easley who is still recovering from a late season knee injury.
The workouts were lead by strength and conditioning coaches Dan Liburd and Hal Luther and included a rotation of stretches and exercises including ones for the lower body by stepping over and under hurdles with a hip flexors stretch to get the hips loose. Players also ran through basic agility drills by doing steps through the ladder, worked on core strength with medicine balls and broke a sweat on the exercise bikes.
The offseason conditioning program is voluntary for all players but marks the return of the Bills to Buffalo.
