Carolina Panthers Sign Michael Oher

The Carolina Panthers have signed former Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Michael Oher to a two year contract with details yet to be announced. The left tackle will help fill a glaring hole left bare with the retirement of Jordan Gross during the 2014 offseason. It’s a good move for a team with a need for versatility and a veteran presence along their offensive.

The versatile offensive tackle can play both the left and right side of the offensive line and will help shore up an offensive line that gave up 42 sacks last season. Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round (pick number 23) of the 2009 NFL Draft, Oher was a staple along their offensive line until they let him walk in free agency during the 2014 offseason. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans and was their started at right tackle until he went on injured reserve on December 13, 2014 due to a toe injury.

Oher might be best known as the subject of The Blind Side, a movie that chronicled his childhood and how he ended up playing for the University of Mississippi Rebels. However, he is versatile offensive lineman who fills a need for the Panthers. Congratulations to Oher and good luck in Carolina this season!
