Peyton Manning Reclaims Crown on NFL Players INC. Top 50 Player Sales List

WASHINGTON D.C., January, 16, 2015 – The results are in for the NFL Players Inc. (NFLPI) Top 50 Player Sales List for the third fiscal quarter, and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning seized the No. 1 spot from Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, who topped the list at the end of the second quarter. The list is based on total sales of all officially licensed products from September 1 through November 30, 2014. Additionally, NFLPI announced new licensing agreements with seven companies including Aminco, Glu Mobile, Lids, Mask-a-Rade, My Team Live, Pro Tips 4U and Wild Sports.

Among the NFLPI retail kings are some of the best players on both sides of the ball. Joining Manning and Wilson in the top 10 are San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (No. 3), Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant (No. 4), New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (No. 5), Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (No. 6), Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt (No. 7), Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (No. 8), Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy (No. 9) and Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch (No. 10). Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (No. 11), New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (No. 12), Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (No. 13), Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel (No. 14) and Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (No. 15) round out the top 15.

The list, released quarterly by NFLPI, the marketing and licensing arm of the NFL Players Association, is based on total overall sales of all officially licensed products from online and traditional retail outlets as reported by more than 80 NFLPI licensees such as Nike, VF Imagewear, Fanatics, Outerstuff, Fathead, McFarlane Toys, Oyo Sportstoys, Bleacher Creatures, Forever Collectibles and Photo File. Licensed product categories include men’s, women’s and youth game jerseys and t-shirts, murals, figurines, matted and framed photos, bobbleheads, drinkware, collectibles and electronic accessories, among others.

Additional highlights:

• Peyton Manning outsold all players in Fatheads, bobbleheads and Nike game jerseys.
• Watt’s supremacy continues as the highest ranked defensive player on the list, raising three more spots to No. 7.
• All-time high four rookies appear in top 50: Manziel (No. 14), Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (No. 21), Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins (No. 38) and Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (No. 50).
• Murray, the NFL’s 2014 rushing leader, vaulted from outside the top 50 in Q2 all the way to No. 15 in Q3. The Packers’ wide receiver Jordy Nelson made the biggest leap, jumping 17 spots from No. 37 to No. 20.
• Veterans including Murray, Seahawks defensive back Kam Chancellor, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson and Eagles running back Darren Sproles appear on the list for the very first time.
• With five players ranked – Wilson, Sherman, Lynch, Chancellor and defensive back Earl Thomas – including three in the top 10, the Seahawks claim the title of having the team with the most individual player retail power.
• Cincinnati defensive lineman Devon Still debuted at No. 26, powered by sales of his Nike game jerseys, VF Imagewear t-shirts and Oyo Sportstoys in support of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centerand his daughter Leah’s fight against pediatric cancer.
