Cooley on Cage Fighting Romo?

There have been a lot of harsh words for Tony Romo this week after a tough loss to the Lions where Romo played poorly down the stretch, but none as harsh as Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley.

Dallas was up by 24 points to the Lions before being outscored 31-3 in the final 25:12 of the game, including two Romo interceptions that were returned for TDs in the third quarter – Bobby Carpenter’s from 34 yards out and Chris Houston’s from 56 yards.

“It’s SO good,” Cooley said on his weekly appearance on the LaVar and Dukes show.  “It’s amazing, AMAZING to watch him choke like that.”

In addition to reveling in the Cowboys loss, Cooley went on to add, “I’m just saying, I’m up 24 points in the third quarter, if I’m the head coach, I feel like I could probably just take a knee for the rest of the game, punt it away and there’s no way that Detroit’s gonna drive on you that many times.”

“The only way you’re gonna give up that many points is turnovers, right? It’s hilarious to watch him throw pick sixes, two, back-to-back.  I loved it.  But it wouldn’t be as good as my cage fight.”

The cage fight was a reference to a topic discussed the previous week, and host LaVar Arrington asked a follow up question on how long it would take for Cooley to beat Romo in a cage match.

“For me to beat Tony?  I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know what kind of cagefighting skills he has,” Cooley responded.  “I would probably try to incorporate my wrestling ability, like when I was in high school.  Obviously it’s been a while, but I didn’t like to beat people fast.  I like to embarrass ‘em a little bit.  Like, take a 24-point lead, and then just play with it a little bit.”

Since Washington is a division rival, some animosity is understandable, but has any player every gone from goat to hero to goat as quickly (and as frequently) as Tony Romo?
