J.J. WATT of the Houston Texans has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week, the NFL announced today.

- Watt had five tackles, one sack, three tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a touchdown catch in the Texans’ 23-7 win at Cleveland.
- He is the only NFL player to register a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery and touchdown reception in the same game since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.
- Watt is the second player in NFL history with two touchdown catches, an interception-return touchdown and a fumble-return touchdown in a season, joining Philadelphia’s JAY ARNOLD in 1938.
- He is the first player since Chicago Bears defensive back J.C. CAROLINE in 1956 to score multiple touchdowns on offense and defense in the same season.
- Since entering the NFL in 2011, Watt leads all AFC players with 46 sacks.
- In his fourth season from Wisconsin, this is Watt’s fourth career Player of the Week Award and second this season (Week 4).
- Watt’s four Player of the Week Awards are the most of any defender in Texans history.
