Jonas Gray named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Running back JONAS GRAY of the New England Patriots has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the NFL announced today.

OFFENSE: RB JONAS GRAY, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

  • Gray rushed for 201 yards on 37 carries (5.4 average) and four touchdowns in the Patriots’ 42-20 win at Indianapolis.
  • He is the first NFL player to score his first four career rushing touchdowns in one game since HERB HENDERSON of the 1921 Evansville Crimson Giants.
  • Gray is the third player in NFL history to rush for at least 200 yards and score a rushing touchdown in each quarter of a game, joining COOKIE GILCHRIST (December 8, 1963) and CLINTON PORTIS (December 7, 2003).
  • Gray’s four touchdowns tied the Patriots’ single-game record set by RANDY MOSS, who had four touchdown catches on November 18, 2007 against Buffalo.
  • His 201 rushing yards were the third-most in a game in franchise history, trailing only TONY COLLINS (212) and JIM NANCE(208).
  • In his first season from Notre Dame, this is Gray’s first career Player of the Week Award.
